"“I’ve finished the eye and I’m up on my ear”: A Female Medical Student’s Life "

Students at Woman’s Medical College took exams after the winter term and the spring term. Those who passed were allowed to continue with the next set of classes.  Laura Heath Hills wrote to her father after her first term exams were graded.  Dr. Hills’ nickname among family and close friends was “Byrd.”

The letter provides the reader with an idea of what kind of student Laura Heath Hills was.
